38. Playing with First Lines


It’s always important to have a good opening line. I decided to write down a few first lines to get some ideas flowing. These are a few first lines that I came up with:

  • He was my white rabbit and I had fallen down his rabbit hole.
  • He voice purred into my ear, “demons may be bad, but are angels any better?
  • He was suited up and ready to kill.
  • I watched the demon shed my mother’s skin as it crawled into the night
  • Everyone was staring at me—but they knew what was coming next
